If you’re like me, you like to track how many steps you take in a day. If you run like me, you also like to know how far and what your pace is while running. Cherry on the top? I also want to know what my heart-rate is in order to make sure I’m not dying during a workout. This led me to do some research and purchase a fitness tracker that could keep up with my daily activities, track my runs and show me my heart-rate. And I want one I can see and that isn’t hidden, something on my wrist I can glance at.
After reading many reviews, and comparing dozens of different brands and models, I ordered the Garmin VivoSmart HR+ activity tracker. Not only was it on sale, it was rated among the highest for fitness and run trackers! It’s been about three months since I started using it, and let me tell you I love it!
First of all, I am terrible at charging my devices. This thing will last 5 days without a charge. Well, as long as I don’t run a whole bunch of miles. Which as we’re getting into week 8 of Marathon training, is happening. 13 miles Saturday! So now I’m forced to charge it every 3 days, which still isn’t that bad. Bad for me since I tend to forget and then my tracker dies in the middle of my long run from abuse and neglect. Sad face.
Other than the battery, the heart rate is pretty accurate for a wrist sensor. It actually has the most accurate heart-rate readings we’ve seen to date in a wrist-mounted tracker that’s waterproof to 50 meters. But what makes this thing stand out is it’s GPS function. With GPS, it tracks my miles accurately as I’m pounding the pavement getting my training in. And glad it’s waterproof as I run in the rain or sprinklers on a hot day.
Do you use a fitness tracker? If so, which one? I used to have a Fitbit before I lost it. I also have a Nike running watch that somehow got lost when I moved back in March, but I’m sure it’ll show up when I least expect it to. Out of all these trackers, I love my new Garmin the most and hope it continues to perform well during my marathon training and beyond. Check out this great price at Amazon HERE!
