Do you eat breakfast?

Many gym members I talk to tell me they skip breakfast. Usually, they’re rushing out of the door and barely have time to put clothes on before commuting to work. While it may be difficult to get up extra early, that first meal will help you in the long run. Not only will it help jump-start your day, it will also help you lose weight.

How to increase your metabolism

They say an apple a day keeps the doctor away, might as well eat that apple in the morning for breakfast. Two birds, one stone. Anything from an apple or banana to a big bowl of oatmeal will help kick-start your metabolism. It will also help you avoid binge eating later on in the day. It’s ideal to eat before working out, as well. For you fasted cardio junkies, try eating something light about an hour or two before working out. You may notice increased endurance and strength.

Avoid the junk food

breakfastNow, it’s totally acceptable to cheat once in awhile. That huge German pancake from Walker Bros. (Chicago) is to die for. But in general, it’s best to keep to a simple breakfast. I.e. eggs, turkey bacon, or unsweetened oatmeal. When I do the unsweetened oatmeal, I like to add in peanut butter, honey, or fruit. Yum!

Remain consistent

It’s best to have a meal every morning. Don’t skip days due to your work or life schedule. I challenge you to eat breakfast every morning for the next 30 days. Let me know how you feel afterwards.
